Czech Republic, Austria harbor corrupt officials of former Timoshenko government
President Viktor Yanukovich was perplexed to learn of the decision made by the Czech Republic to grant political asylum to former economy minister Bogdan Danilishin. According to him, Danilishin had never been a politician but the government official who got enmeshed in corruption.
Ukrainian law-enforcement authorities have taken legal action against the former member of the former Timoshenko government.
In addition, the state security service SBU has brought an action against Mikhail Pozhivanov, former head of the State Committee on Material Reserves,
for the embezzlement of state resources in the amount of seven billion hryvnias. Strangely enough, in September 2010 Austria gave him the residence
and work permit that expires next year.
