Every year more than 160,000 people contract cancer in Ukraine. Moreover, 18 new cancer cases are diagnosed in Ukrainians every hour.
The incidence rates of cancer are highest in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, the Kirovograd, Nikolaev and Zaporozhye regions (374.7-475.8 cases per 100,000 of the Ukraine’s population). There has been a tendency towards a decline in the rate of death of cancer over the last five years. Specifically, the death rate reduced from 187 to 184 people per 100,000 of the Ukraine’s population. Unfortunately, every hour cancer still takes the lives of 10 Ukrainians.
Clinical studies show that despite the development and improvement of existent therapies their efficacy accounts for no more than 50%. At present, Ukrainian scientists evolve the new method for treating oncological diseases, which is based on the application of nanotechnologies.
According to Western experts, such technologies could pay investors up to 500%. There is a massive, growing market in Ukraine – developing technologies to treat cancer patients. They are tapping into the countries that have a huge cancer problem. Among them is a rich country – China whose citizens have got the cash to spend on these technologies.
